Linwood Playcentre is a small, parent-run early learning centre on Worcester Street, catering for kids from newborn to five. Unlike a drop-off daycare, mums, dads or caregivers stay and take part alongside their tamariki, so it suits families wanting to be hands-on rather than just leaving the kids for the morning.

Sessions run on weekday mornings and the outdoor area has been built up over the years by the parent community, so there's plenty of scope for messy, active outdoor play alongside the usual dress-ups, art, sand and books inside. It's licensed for a small group of around 25 children, so it stays fairly intimate rather than overwhelming for younger toddlers.
