Burwood Playcentre on New Brighton Road is a community-run playcentre for children up to five, with parents taking turns to run each session alongside a rostered coordinator. Inside there's messy play, art and imaginative corners, and there's an outdoor area too for running about and digging in the sandpit, so there's usually something to do whatever the weather's like.
Regular sessions run Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, with a separate SPACE group for babies and under-twos on Mondays. Because it's a Playcentre rather than a straightforward drop-in centre, parents are expected to stay and get stuck in with the group, and joining as a member is how you get involved rather than just turning up on the day.
