Alice in Putterland is an 18-hole indoor mini golf course tucked inside New Brighton Mall, built around the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. You start among Wonderland scenery for the first six holes, then duck through a curtain into a blacklight room where the Cheshire Cat glows and your ball lights up under UV, before finishing among Red Queen and Jabberwocky-themed holes. Local street artists painted the walls, and it's a genuinely local, family-run set-up.
It suits a wide range of ages, from young kids having a go at their first mini golf through to grown-ups, and it's a solid rainy day option since the whole course is indoors. There's a shop at the front selling Alice-themed homewares, jewellery and costumes if you want to browse before or after your round, and they also do birthday parties and private functions.
No need to book ahead for a casual game, though it pays to check their Facebook page first as hours can shift around private events. Most groups are done in half an hour to an hour.
