Methven Playcentre

Methven Playcentre is a small parent-led early childhood centre on Main Street, on the corner with South Belt, catering for kids aged 0 to 5. Parents and caregivers stay for the whole session and get stuck in alongside their children, so it's as much a chance for the grown-ups to meet as it is for the kids to play.
On any given morning there might be sandpit and messy play, dress-ups and face painting, baking, carpentry with real tools, singing, dancing and time in the garden, with activities changing session to session. The building itself has some history, it started out as the old Mount Hutt Road Board office before the playcentre took it over.
Numbers are kept small and new families are welcome to come along and see how it works before committing, with no booking needed. It suits a low-key weekday morning if you're in Methven with a toddler or preschooler and want them playing with other local kids while you stay close by.
