Hanmer Springs Playcentre is a small, parent-run early childhood centre on Cheltenham Street, right by Hanmer Springs School, taking children from birth to school age. Sessions run on Wednesday and Friday mornings, and unlike a typical daycare, mums, dads or other caregivers stay and play alongside their kids rather than dropping them off.
It's a good fit if you're keen to be hands-on with your child's early learning, or if you've just moved to Hanmer and want an easy way to meet other families with young kids. You get a few visits to see how it feels before deciding to enrol, and there's a genuine sense of community since it's run by the parents themselves rather than a corporate chain.
