Gleniti Playcentre

Gleniti Playcentre is a parent-run early learning centre on Wai-iti Road in Timaru's Gleniti area, for kids from birth to five. It's not a drop-off daycare: parents or caregivers stay for the session, taking turns to set up activities and help run things alongside their children.
It suits babies and toddlers as much as preschoolers, since the age groups mix together and parent helpers shape the day's play around whatever the kids are into. You can visit a few times before deciding whether to join, which makes it a low-pressure way to check it out and meet other local families.
The centre came close to closing a few years back due to low numbers but has since picked up strongly, with more families joining and the building getting an upgrade.
